Our Philosophy

Established in 1952, Mattydale Animal Hospital is committed to providing the community with the best medical and surgical veterinary care possible. We cater to the animal owner whose pets are companions and members of the family. Not only do we understand the importance of providing quality diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive services, but we are also acutely aware of the emotional role pets play in all our lives. We are dedicated to serving you and your pet with the highest professional standards and compassion.

Our Facility

Reception
A spacious waiting room ensures maximum comfort for you and your pet. We require all dogs to be on a leash and all cats to be in a carrier.  General information of interest to pet owners is in this area, and a video system provides more specific details on common  behavior and health problems. Our receptionists will obtain a brief history, make up individual color-coded pet records, and assist you in any way they can.

Medical Facilities
Mattydale Animal Hospital has expanded through the years to include complete diagnostic facilities. A Burdick EKG for cardiac evaluation, a Picker X-Ray with automatic processor to ensure quality x-ray films, a Vet Test blood chemistry unit to provide immediate and accurate blood values, an Ultrasonic Doppler to measure blood pressure, in-house feline leukemia testing, a microscope, and a centrifuge comprise some of our diagnostic equipment. We also utilize a number of specialty labs for the evaluation of blood and tissue samples. Between continuing education meetings, subscriptions to numerous medical journals, and a modern medical library, we provide top-rate diagnostic care and treatment for your pet.

Surgical Facilities
A large, two-table, sterile surgical suite is an integral part of the hospital. From routine spays and neuters to orthopedic procedures, a wide range of surgeries are performed . State-of-the-art gas anesthesia is routinely used to reduce anesthetic risk, and a pulse and oxygen level monitor is used during anesthesia and surgery to provide maximum safety. We pride ourselves on our surgical ability and routinely accept referrals from other area hospitals.

Patient Care
If your pet requires medical or surgical treatment in the hospital, we do our utmost to provide a comfortable stay as well as competent medical care. Individual cages with rubber mats and blankets, piped-in music, Science Diet or prescription diet food, and separation of sick from well patients provide a minimum of stress and a maximum of comfort during difficult times. Our licensed technicians are competent and compassionate about the emotional needs of our patients. Our hospital is kept scrupulously clean and lacks the typical hospital smell so common in veterinary facilities. Though there’s no place like home, we try to be the next best thing.

Staff
The owner, Dr. Karen Leshkivich, is firmly committed to continuing the tradition of excellence and compassion established by her predecessors. Two additional associate veterinarians, chosen for their experience and caliber of education, provide you and your pet with a depth of veterinary skills. A 14-member support staff contributes to the smooth management and upkeep of the hospital. Our staff is a friendly, compatible unit dedicated to providing you and your pet with the service and health care you have come to expect from us.

Health Care Products
We offer top-shelf, veterinary products from food to flea control. These products are screened to be the best available anywhere and carry our endorsement.

Payment Policies
Payment is expected when services are rendered. We accept cash, checks, and major credit cards. If extensive procedures are required, a deposit of 50% of the estimate is required prior to initiation of the procedure with the balance due upon patient discharge.

The care and well-being of your pets, our patients, is our primary concern.
